Texas Head Coach Tom Herman enters his 4th season at the helm with high expectations. The Longhorns will look to build on last season’s 8-5 record in 2020. Texas welcomes back seven starters on Offense including three starters on the Offensive Line. Senior Quarterback Sam Ehlinger returns as well and will be joined in the backfield by another returning starter in junior Running Back Keaontay Ingram. The Wide Receiving Unit only returns one starter in junior Brennan Eagles while senior Tight End Cade Brewer gives Ehlinger another reliable option in the passing game. Look out for a pair of Wide Receivers in sophomore Joshua Moore and senior Tarik Black (Michigan transfer) as they could both have breakout seasons. Texas returns a whopping nine starters on Defense including two starters on the Defensive Line in sophomore Nose Tackle Keondre Coburn and senior Defensive Tackle Ta’Quon Graham. The Linebacking Unit returns two starters as well and will be anchored by junior Linebacker Joseph Ossai. The Secondary returns all five starters and will be carried by junior Safeties B.J. Foster and Caden Sterns. The Special Teams Unit will be solid again in 2020 with both junior Kicker Cameron Dicker and junior Punter Ryan Bujcevski back. Texas has an extremely difficult schedule and will be hard pressed to win double-digit games. The Longhorns will improve ever so slightly from last season but that may not be enough to appease their diehard fans. I predict Texas comes up short in their quest to win the Big 12 Championship in 2020 and goes 9-4.
